Fact Sheet: _Synthetic Environment Evaluation - Inspection Tool
.
Quick Scroll To:

DESCRIPTIONGraphic of SEE-IT application

SEE-IT is a powerful tool that provides two primary utilities to environmental database users and developers. It checks for conditions that may be inaccurate descriptions of the physical environment they are intended to model. It also evaluates environmental databases to find conditions that can lead to anomalous behaviors by entities operating in the simulated world. In addition, SEE-IT provides data query and filtering mechanisms to highlight, detect, and diagnose environmental data.

RELEASE INFORMATION

The current version is 2.2. This tool is SEDRIS 4.1 compliant.

There is no requirement that SEDRIS be installed on the host system. All of the required API functions have been statically compiled with the SEE-IT software so that it can execute in a stand-alone mode.

FEATURES

SEE-IT checks for anomalies such as cracks in the terrain, if the roads meet at proper junctions, sliver polygons, intersections of roads, rivers and bridges, and a variety of other anomalies that are usually found in terrain databases. Content checking of non-terrain data sets are also planned for the future.

Data SEE-IT keeps includes:

  • Model Information
  • Collision Volumes
  • Points
  • Lines
  • Areals
  • Polygons
  • Grids
  • (and all attribution)

Data SEE-IT ignores includes:

  • Visual System Data
  • Organizational Information
  • Transmittal Metadata

Also provided as a download is the Condition Report API. This API may be used to develop applications that read SEE-IT condition reports. A sample condition report is provided in the API download. Source code for a sample application, "read_conditions.c", is also provided that exercises all of the API functions.

LIMITATIONS

See Planned Improvements.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Hardware

  • Main memory -- Very little memory is actually required, but the more the better.
  • Disk space -- Depends greatly on the SEDRIS transmittal, and the reports requested.
    • SEE-IT generates text files describing each condition of interest.

Software

  • SEE-IT software is available as executable code for Linux, SGI, and Windows platforms.
  • For Windows, you will need an X Server as a helper application.
    • Any X Server will work.
    • A free X Server is provided as a separate download, however our recommendation is that you purchase a copy of Exceed.

POINT OF CONTACT

Send email to help@sedris.org for questions or assistance in using this application.

As a minimum, please provide the following in your email:

  • application name
  • application version
  • hardware architecture
  • OS name and version
  • detailed problem description

PLANNED IMPROVEMENTS

  • Maintain compatibility with latest SEDRIS SDK release.
  • Additional checking ability.
  • Improved grid processing.
  • Additional/improved fixing ability.
  • Bug fixes.
  • Other improvements that may arise (which may take priority over some or all of the above) .
