DESCRIPTION
This free tool converts National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) feature
data in Vector Product Format (VPF) to SEDRIS Transmittal Format (STF).
RELEASE INFORMATION
This tool is SEDRIS 3.1.2 compliant.
FEATURES
- Reads a transmittal definition file, where the user
specifies:
- the absolute path to a VPF database directory,
- the name of a particular data library subdirectory
within the specified VPF database that is to be the source of the transmittal,
- the names of one or more coverages within the specified
VPF library that are to be included in the transmittal,
- the values of various required transmittal-level
metadata elements, such as the Citation, Access, and Point of Contact,
that cannot be derived from the contents of the VPF database,
- the location of the vpf error file, and
- optionally, the area of interest.
- Populates as much required transmittal-level metadata as possible with
values from the VPF database and library header tables.
- Creates a separate Classification Related Features
object for each selected VPF coverage.
- Processes multiple tiles within a VPF coverage into
corresponding Perimeter Related Feature Topology objects.
- If an area of interest is specified, only those tiles that are at least
partially within that area of interest are processed.
- Creates a separate Union of Features object containing
all features with each unique FACC feature code within each selected coverage.
- Processes all VPF point, line, and area features
within the selected coverages, including compound features (i.e.,
features that consist of multiple primitives).
- Breaks non-sequential compound line features into
multiple SEDRIS Linear Features all contained within a single Union of
Features object.
- Translates FACC feature codes to corresponding EDCS
classification codes.
- Assigns EDCS classification codes to non-FACC features
(e.g., Data Quality features) using look-up tables.
- Creates Property Value objects for each feature
attribute.
- Translates FACC attribute codes to corresponding
EDCS attribute codes.
- Assigns EDCS attribute codes to non-FACC attributes
using look-up tables.
- Creates all topological relationships supported
by the source data.
- Retains VPF coverage and feature class names as
keywords.
LIMITATIONS
- Only processes features contained in a single VPF
library.
- Does not process VPF text features.
- Cannot process multiple-valued attributes contained
in Related Attribute Tables (RATs); only the first attribute value is processed.
- Does not support the translation of VPF cross-tile
topology.
- Operation can be disrupted by serious errors in
the structure and organization of the VPF data, such as critical files that are missing or corrupted.
- Errors in the VPF source data are listed in a text file (vpf errors).
- The SEDRIS Syntax Checker may complain
about invalid units when the default EUC_UNITLESS are assigned,
the mapping type is EDCS_MAPPING_TYP_CHANGE_TO_METADATA, and the unit
equivalency class does not include EUC_UNITLESS.
